The 2013 Hong Kong LCCI Medallion Award Ceremony was held in the Assembly Hall of YMCA Kowloon on 18 October. 44 outstanding Hong Kong students were awarded LCCI Medallions and Certificates of Excellence. They were chosen out of tens of thousands of LCCI graduates around the world as winners for their top notch performance in this year’s LCCI examinations. Present at the ceremony were over 50 school and institution representatives and longtime partners with LCCI in Hong Kong.
Dugie Cameron, Pearson President for Asia Pacific, opened the event by congratulating the winners and addressing Pearson’s vision of helping students improve their lives through learning. He stressed that LCCI qualifications provide multiple progression routes for students, allowing them to either apply the practical skills learned directly to the job market, or to progress directly to higher education.
Jacky Gao, Director for Pearson Qualifications International Greater China, Isa Wong, Pearson President for Greater China, and Zoe Kwong, Pearson Education Solutions Director, presented awards to the winning students, who were the absolute stars of the ceremony.
Dr. Tong Chong-sze, Secretary General of Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, made a closing speech, ending the event on a high note. Dr. Tong stressed the importance of further education and skills for Hong Kong’s long term growth, and reaffirmed the key role that international qualification providers, like Pearson, have played in increasing the level of talent and skills within Hong Kong’s workforce.
LCCI International Qualifications have been recognized by students, academics, parents and employers around the world for more than a hundred years. LCCI now has over 1,000 centres and hundreds of graduates across the Asia region. The LCCI Medallion Award Ceremony is the largest annual LCCI event held in multiple cities around Asia.
